Last night marked the end of the Amplyfi residency for breakout Orange County band The Bolts and the guys caught up with May The Day just before the Sold Out show.
After 6 years together, the band has cultivated a very strong, pop-inspired rock sound that has gained a lot of acclaim. Since recent single “Wait ‘Til We’re Young” premiered on MTV Buzzworthy, the band is excited and thankful for the response and is looking forward to an upcoming tour and growing as a band.
Check out The Bolts here and find out their “delicious” giveaway after closing their residency at Amplyfi!
The Vim Dicta recently played the Silverlake Lounge and, while we got to take part in their recording session at Capitol Records, oddly enough this was our first time seeing them live!
Having heard their songs before, we were familiar with their sound however – The Vim Dicta’s live show is no comparison. Performing some songs currently present online, peppered with some news ones, the entire set had power and meaning. Singer Cori Elliott and guitarist Matt Tunney play off each other fantastically and their voices combine to create an element of strength.
From beginning to end, the “psycho groove” remained constant with the help of drummer Chris “Fuse” Infusino’s pace. The trio puts on a rad performance and packs such a great punch of true rock. If you’re looking for a solid psych-rock vibe, check out The Vim Dicta around Los Angeles, they’ll bring you just that.
The talented Josh Harmony hung out with May The Day recently to shed some light on the journey that has led him to his fifth album Calico Romeo.
Harmony recently performed at the Wilmore 9 Festival where he exuded a soulful sound and true delivery making his music very memorable. After sustaining an injury that caused him to delve into music even further, the longtime skater and musician began a songwriting process focused on life and love.
Check out more on Josh Harmony’s songwriting inspirations and what he’s up to the rest of this year!
We recently met up with very awesome new band Batwings Catwings at one of their shows at the Pico Union Project in Los Angeles (completely sketchy and abandony from the outside, way cool on the inside). Having planted the seeds of the group at the DIY hotspot The Smell in downtown LA, off the wall venues really work for this band’s message: giving their all to the audience in the form of pure rock, punk, pop (and sometimes Butt Rock).
“If there’s at least one person [in the audience] we’ll be happy. And we’ll give our all to that one person…”
Batwings Catwings just played the Wilmore 9 Fest in Long Beach, CA so do not miss them on August 17-18 at Echo Park Rising!

Long Beach enthusiasts So Many Wizards played Sunday of the Wilmore 9 Fest. Beginning as singer Nima Kazerouni’s solo project, the band has now evolved to the current line up showing fantastic chemistry and putting on a super entertaining show complete with upbeat, meaningful tunes along with great inter-song commentary.

Having watched a Dresses music video days prior, May The Day was happy to see the band as part of the line up at the Wilmore 9 Festival in Long Beach.
Portland’s girl/guy duo Dresses puts forth a lovely blend of indie melodies, pop fun and pleasant sensibility. Reminiscent of an ‘Of Monsters and Men’ type sound, bandmates Jared and Timothy generate a very friendly stage presence and easy, likeable songs – excited to see more from the band in the future!
Check out May The Day’s time with Dresses!
In between sets of the Long Beach Wilmore 9 Festival, Rahfee Zahkee was ever present to make sure people’s ears had no down time. While crowds awaited acts to come, the DJ performed live remixing – showcasing new equipment along the way.
May the Day recently had an exclusive peek into Los Angeles band The Vim Dicta’s recording session at Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA. The band was busy perfecting 5 tracks during their studio time but took a moment to speak to us about upcoming plans and being at Capitol Records for the first time.
The trio puts forth a powerful mix of classic rock core with hints of latin spice and psychedelic throwback – a sound that The Vim Dicta takes seriously. The very experience you have seeing them live is the same feeling they want you to have when listening to a record. Thus, every track is recorded live making sure that the essence of each performance is what comes out of your speakers when you press play.
During their 2 days of studio time, the band was working with legendary producer and sound engineers Niko Bolas and Shelly Yakus who came together to capture the best possible live moment for the band.
“They know our sound really well, they’ve known a lot of other great people’s sound and we trust them whole-heartedly.”
- Matt Tunney (Guitarist)
